Welcome!

The Electronic Petition website offers you the opportunity to sign the petition for one candidate that seeks to be placed on the ballot for a race in which you are eligible to vote.

  • You may sign one petition per race, including those for City Council or Mayor.
  • If you want to sign petitions for more than one race, such as a Mayoral race and a City Council race in your district, you will need to log into the site separately for each signature.
  • The website does not track previous petition signatures, including in-person petitions. While you may be able to submit multiple signatures, only your first valid signature per race will be counted. If you sign multiple petitions in the same race, your signature will not count for any candidate in that race. (NMSA 1978, § 1-1-7.2)

Why Your Signature Matters

Candidates seeking to be placed on the ballot must collect signatures from a percentage of registered voters—1% of the voters in their district for City Council candidates or 3,000 registered voters citywide for Mayoral candidates. Your signature helps a candidate qualify for the ballot and gives voters more choices on Election Day.

To Sign a Petition You Must:

  • Be a registered voter in the district for which the candidate is running
  • Sign the petition of your own free will
  • Not have previously signed another petition for a candidate running for the same office
